About my policies
This pages sets out my policies when working as Juline Counselling. Setting these out clearly helps me to ensure that I meet a range of legal and ethical requirements which apply to me as a therapist. For you as a client or potential client, this provides transparency as to how I work.
Sometimes I work together with other therapists, therapy agencies or third parties. These policies apply only where you (my client) have been explicitly informed that they apply. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about them.
List of my policies
Here is a list of all my policies.
Confidentiality & Disclosure Policy
This policy sets out the primacy of confidentiality in the client-therapist relationship. It also sets out the limits of confidentiality and where I may disclose information to a third party because ethical or legal considerations require it. My policy is not published here. However it is provided to all clients and prospective clients.
Privacy Notice
It is a requirement under UK data protection legislation for even a small businesses to write its own ‘Privacy Notice’ which sets out they take care of your personal information. You can read mine here if you wish!

Rescheduling and Cancellations
To the extent that I have a policy, this is governed by my Counselling Agreement with clients. If there are any changes to the policy, clients will be notified directly.
Correspondence with third parties
Any correspondence with third parties such as other therapist, medical professionals, or public authorities such as police or the courts will be governed first and foremost by my Confidentiality and Disclosure Policy.
Fees for correspondence
For a request by you, I will ask you for payment in advance by your usual payment method. For a request by a third party, I will invoice the third party. My fees are as follows:
- To send a copy of your notes to you or a third party – £60 to cover up to one hour’s administration, copying and postage. In the unusual case that the task takes more than an hour, I charge £30 for each subsequent half-hour.
- For a letter to yourself or a third party, I charge £40. In the unusual case that the task takes more than an hour, I charge £30 for each subsequent half-hour.
If a third party makes a request but refuses payment, it will be for you to decide whether you wish me to meet that request and to negotiate with the third party who will make payment.
Public health policy
My public health policy is as follows.
If we are meeting face to face, we both agree to follow any legislation and Government guidance relating to public health measures in force at the time. As part of any Agreement we make (such as for therapy or post-therapy support), we confirm to each other that we are doing so. This includes guidance that applies to situations outside of the therapy venue, for example (but not limited to) guidance relating to social distancing; what to do if you or someone you live with develops symptoms of an infectious disease; meeting people from outside your household; and shielding. We also agree to abide also by any public health measures or rules set by any venues we are using.
Disruption of services
If I am unable to provide you with the usual, agreed service due to an unplanned event, I will consult you on how to move forward. This will be with the aim of continuing to meet your therapeutic need as best as possible in the circumstances. Examples of disruption include transport strikes, a requirement on me to attend jury service, public health measures that limit face to face contact and the closure of one or more venues.
External frameworks which I adhere to
I am a member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP). As such, I adhere to their Ethical Framework and their Memorandum of Understanding on Conversion Therapy in the UK.
